Are you passionate about dance education and looking for an opportunity to lead in a prestigious institution? The Central School of Ballet, located in the vibrant South Bank arts community of London’s Southwark, is seeking a dedicated Head of Studies to join their Senior Management Team.
About Central School of Ballet
Central School of Ballet is a world-class institution offering intensive conservatoire training in ballet and dance. With approximately 130 students enrolled in Foundation and BA Hons degrees in Professional Dance and Performance, as well as an MA in Choreography (validated by the University of Kent), Central is at the forefront of professional dance training in the UK.
Housed in the state-of-the-art Countess of Wessex Studios, the school also offers:
- A Junior School with after-school ballet classes.
- An Associate Programmer for aspiring young dancers.
- A range of adult dance classes promoting fitness and wellbeing.
Central is also a registered independent higher education provider with the Office for Students.
About the Role
As the Head of Studies, you will play a pivotal role in delivering and managing Central’s higher education programmes. Reporting to the Director of Higher Education, you will work closely with students and teaching staff to ensure an exceptional educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery and management of the Contextual Studies modules.
- Organize and oversee student assessments and progression.
- Manage the Learning Development Manager and support staff training and development.
- Collaborate with the Senior Management Team to deliver degree-level vocational training in line with Central’s values of excellence and innovation.
- Champion Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) within the school as part of the EDI Working Group.

The ideal candidate will:
- Be a dance specialist with experience in teaching and delivering higher education courses.
- Have a strong interest in ballet, dance, and performance in a contemporary context.
- Demonstrate the ability to liaise effectively with students and staff to facilitate a thriving learning environment.
- Be committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in dance and higher education.
