Job Overview
As a Sales Representative – Yacht Coatings at AkzoNobel, you will be responsible for managing customer portfolios, acquiring new business opportunities, and delivering exceptional technical support to clients in the yacht industry. You will execute sales and profitability targets in your designated area, work closely with customers on product selection, and provide solutions to technical challenges, both onsite and remotely.
This role is pivotal to maintaining AkzoNobel’s leadership in the yacht coatings market by fostering strong relationships with clients and delivering tailored solutions that meet their needs.
Key Responsibilities
Sales and Customer Management:
- Manage a portfolio of yacht customers within a designated area, aligning activities with the agreed sales plan.
- Identify new business opportunities, generate leads, and maintain a healthy sales pipeline.
- Develop and nurture long-term relationships with existing and potential customers to achieve sales growth.
- Provide regular, personalized support to customers to ensure their satisfaction and retention.
- Plan and execute visits to customers according to an agreed schedule, ensuring optimal service levels.
Market Analysis and Strategy Implementation:
- Analyze customer feedback, monitor market trends, and provide actionable insights for business development.
- Identify and implement sales strategies tailored to the assigned marketplace.
- Collaborate with management to devise and execute remedial actions when sales targets are not met.
Technical Support and Product Training:
- Deliver onsite and remote training to customers on the proper use and application of AkzoNobel products and equipment.
- Assist in testing and implementing new products and technologies for clients.
- Act as a technical advisor, resolving customer queries related to product application and performance.
Administrative and Reporting Duties:
- Plan, execute, and document all sales activities in the assigned area.
- Provide regular progress reports, including insights and recommendations for market improvements.
- Work closely with other departments to deliver approved service solutions and address customer needs effectively.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher education, preferably in a related field.
Industry Experience:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the yacht market and associated products.
- Proven track record in the paint or coatings industry, or a comparable manufacturing sector.
- Experience in managing technical complaints and resolving customer issues.
Technical Proficiency:
- Strong knowledge of coatings and related applications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with SAP or similar systems.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Results-driven with a strategic approach to sales and customer management.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Other Requirements:
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
- Cultural awareness and a collaborative mindset.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to the role.
